You just went to get a manicure or gel polish in the salon and on the way out you enjoy the new look of your nails. Is this where this was? Eh! Here are a couple of things you should remember after a manicure and take care of it yourself!

In the first days after a manicure (especially in winter), you must not forget to moisturize your hands. The areas of the cuticle and nail bed are very sensitive after treatment. This is why cold air, dry indoor air and even exposure to running water dehydrates these areas. This can lead to tearing and “peeling” of the skin on the hands, due to which the nails no longer look new and well-maintained. Get yourself some hand cream or cuticle oil, rub it into your fingers and hands (around the nails if it’s cuticle oil) 2 times a day. It is important to do this at least 3-4 days after the manicure!

All, even the strongest coatings (gels, gel polishes, acrylics, etc.) have maximum durability. I want to warn you about this, especially those with long nails. Within 3-4 weeks, I recommend servicing your nails or filing the free edge of your nails. The load on the nails increases, which leads to deformation of the nail surface and detachment of the nail layers.

Any kind of “scratching” of the coating can lead to the peeling of the coating or even in the worst case, the nail layers. Also, substances containing acetone should be kept away from the nails, because they peel off the coatings.

Do not engage in active sports with your nails where your nails could suffer. No one can guarantee that your nails will remain undamaged in the event of a severe impact. If, without practicing either of these sports, life doesn’t flourish in bright colors, please be careful with your nails and avoid hitting them.

After the manicure you can:

  • Wash your hands without fear
  • use detergents or disinfectants, but be sure to grease your hands !!
  • go for a swim or sauna (preferably not on the same day)
  • use beauty products (neither use exfoliation, it can scratch the shiny surface of the nail)
