The goal of the French manicure varnishing technique is to make the tip of the nail look clean and white. A French manicure can be done for both short and long nails.
For a French manicure you need:
- Varnish
- White lacquer
- Clear lacquer / pastel lacquer
- Nail polish decoration pen
- Chassis
Base coat is not necessary. Instead of a decorative pen, you can also use, for example, a toothpick. The base can be anything you can take white nail polish from (e.g. a metal bowl).
First, a base coat is applied to the nail. When this has dried, put white varnish on the selected base and remove it with a decorative pencil. The varnish is applied to the tip of the nail with as long strokes as possible. The white varnish can be applied thinly or thickly according to your own taste. When the varnish has dried, clear varnish/pastel varnish is applied on top.
It sounds easy, but it takes practice! Here are the pictures of my first French manicure:
The white varnish did not work flawlessly, it required some repairs in the end. However, the end result was quite free. More exercise!
